MicroPlasma Systems, LLC was formed March 2018 to provide innovative technology to advance the capability of analytical chemical trace instruments.


Jim Alberti – CEO

Jim Alberti  is an experienced electrical engineer with over 30 years in R&D product development and systems engineering of instrumentation for the Industrial, Medical, Space and Marine industries. He has developed plasma based ion sources for Differential Mobility Spectrometers (DMS) and  systems utilizing DMS as pre-filters for mass spectrometers. He is a co-inventor of four medical device patents and co-author on several publications in peer reviewed journals in Analytical Chemistry. He holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. He is a Principal owner of MicroPlasma Systems, LLC.


Dr. Erkin Nazarov – Chief Scientist

Dr. Erkin Nazarov is a pioneer and respected expert in Differential Mobility Spectrometry (DMS) technology and was involved in the development of DMS instruments at the Uzbek Academy of Sciences in the former Soviet Union and at New Mexico State University where he was an Associate Professor in Chemical & Biological Sciences. He has extensive experience in the design, fabrication and evaluation of DMS based sensors. He has authored over 110 publications in peer reviewed journals,  a book and chapters in books and has 50+patents and inventor’s certifications. He holds a Ph.D. from Ioffe Physical Technical Institute in Leningrad (1982) and Doctor of Physical – Mathematical Sciences from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (1992, Russia). He was Chief Scientist and R&D manager at Sionex Corporation between 2002 and 2010 and a Senior Scientist and Principal Member of the Technical Staff at the Draper laboratory Bioengineering Center at the University of South Florida 2010- 2016. He is a Principal owner of MicroPlasma Systems, LLC .
